Rheumatoid Arthritis
Overview
The word Arthritis is a combination of two words – Arth (joints) and Ritis (inflammation) that is inflammation of the joints. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is one of the 100 types of arthritis. RA is a chronic disease which causes inflammation of the joints and the tissues around the joints. It is called an autoimmune disease, which means that the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own body’s tissues, rather than protecting them! RA is also referred as rheumatoid disease, as it not only affects the joints, but other organs of the body as well.
Some of the general symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are fatigue, depression and stiffness in the joints in the mornings. The cause of RA is still not known fully, but it primarily affects the peripheral joints.
Studies and Researches
About 1% of the world’s population is affected by rheumatoid arthritis and is three times more common in women than in men. Various studies and researches reveal that daily activities of most individuals suffering from rheumatoid arthritis are affected. Approximately 33% of the patients are unable to work after 5 years of the disease and approximately 50% patients have substantial functional disability after 10 years of the disease, which is a fairly large number! Studies have also revealed that the life expectancy of individuals with this disease shortens by 5 to 10 years.
Treatment and Medication
There are various therapies like weight loss, physiotherapy, joint injections, occupational therapy, exercise, surgery and different medication for the treatment of RA. If the disease is left unchecked, it can lead to destruction of the affected joints leading to handicap. So, it is extremely important to start an early therapy for the patient.
There are two objectives of the treatment of RA – to ease the current symptoms and to prevent future damage. It is recommended that RA should be treated with Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drug (DMARD) along with a pain reliever. Usually the damage already done to the joint by RA is irreversible. With a combination of DMARDs and analgesics for the treatment, it has been found that DMARDs on one hand produce durable symptomatic remissions and delay or halt progression and on the other hand, the analgesics/anti-inflammatories reduces the pain and stiffness.
Tramadol is a synthetic (man-made) pain reliever which can be combined with DMARD to treat RA. Tramadol is a prescription medication and is said to work like morphine. It is used for treating moderate to moderately severe pain. It is a cheap and effective analgesic. To know more about the cheap Tramadol, visit http://cheap-tramadol.org

A Look At Understanding Pain Management Techniques
Almost everyone has experienced a short burst of pain caused by illness, an injury, or a throbbing headache that lasts for a few hours. This acute, or short term, pain is not a pleasant experience. For those who suffer pain on a daily basis for a long period of time, the experience is even more unpleasant. This type of pain requires a different approach to treatment, often called pain management.
There is often little understanding about chronic pain in our society today. This is understandable, since even the doctor may not be able to determine the cause of the pain, and will only be able to treat the symptoms. Fortunately, there are many options for treatment.
Generally, the first thing tried is some form of over-the-counter drug. There are a variety of pills that work as pain relievers, some of which have anti-inflammatory properties as well. If your pain is muscular in nature, there are a number of creams, gels, and liquids that are made to rub into the affected area. In most cases the individual will have tried one or more of these treatments, often without much success, before seeing their doctor.
If you indeed suffer from chronic pain, you will discover that the first trip to the doctor may be just the beginning of your journey of treatment. It is not always possible to determine the cause of your pain, which makes finding a treatment that brings relief a bit of a challenge. The doctor will often begin by giving the patient a prescription drug to treat the pain symptoms. There are many drugs used in pain treatment, and it might take trying several of them until one is found that provides relief.
While use of narcotic drugs to treat chronic pain has been controversial, doctors are realizing that when used appropriately, and often in combination with other drugs, that they can be effective in treating pain without causing addiction. Other families of drugs that are used in pain treatment include antidepressants and anticonvulsants, though they are often used in smaller doses for this purpose.
In conjunction with medications, many times your doctor will prescribe physical therapy for a short duration. The physical therapist will normally use a combination of techniques, depending on the source of your pain. These could include hot and cold packs on the affected area. You might also be given some exercises that might help with stretching or strengthening the area around the pain. In many cases it will be recommended that the patient get some form of regular exercise as part of their treatment plan. Exercise can help with anyone’s overall health and well-being, and this can be particularly true of a patient suffering with chronic pain.
In addition to addressing the physical aspects of the patient’s pain, doctors will often suggest counseling as well. Living with chronic pain causes stress to your mind as well as your body. This can lead to a viscous cycle of increasing pain. The more you worry about the condition, the worse the pain can become, which can cause more stress. Counseling can provide you skills in coping with the stress. This might include relaxation techniques, the use of biofeedback, or maybe even guided imagery.
This is only a sampling of the more traditional treatment options available to chronic pain patients. It is important to understand that with chronic pain, it is often more a case of pain management rather than a cure. However, if the patient is as persistent as the pain he or she is likely to find some relief.

People all over the world have arthritis. While it is more prevalent in some countries more so than others, there are still suffers in every corner of the world. Three arthritic conditions are most common and each of them can be painful and debilitating. Gout, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis are the three common forms of this disease. What kind of joint pain and arthritis do you suffer from?
The form of arthritis named osteoarthritis is common in more women than men. It occurs when the protein cartilage between the bones in the joints deteriorates. Once this protein is worn away, the bones are able to rub together, which causes extreme pain and swelling in that joint. Aging greatly increases the chances of osteoarthritis.
Unfortunately, there is no specific kind of treatment for completely resolving osteoarthritis. Managing your weight and performing light exercises are great ways to help strengthen the muscles around an affected joint. Maintaining a lighter weight will help in keeping pressure off the joints. Some health care providers may use injection medication straight into the affected joint for lowering inflammation when your pain levels get high. Some might prescribe pain killers as well.
If you have gout, you have a lot of pain. This form of arthritis is from a buildup of uric acid that deposits into the areas around the joints, causing crystal formations that are extremely painful. It occurs more frequently in the hands and feet of sufferers. Problems with having too much uric acid in your body is thought to be hereditary.
Treating gout is a lot like other forms of arthritis treatment. Pain killers and diet control are two of the most common kinds of treatment. Your doctor might decide to perform blood testing to make a positive diagnosis of this condition. He or she may prescribe painkillers or anti inflammatory drugs. Controlling your weight through a managed diet could also be a big part of your treatment.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a little different in that it attacks the immune system in the body. This form of arthritis is marked by inflammation in the synovial membrane surrounding the joints. Research has been going on for years to find the cause of rheumatoid arthritis. Thus far, there has been nothing found that is conclusive. This type of arthritis can affect many body parts and can cause extreme pain.
Blood tests can be done to make sure you do indeed have rheumatoid arthritis. Visiting your doctor for treatment of this arthritis can involve drawing fluid off the inflamed joint, a procedure called arthrocentisis. This can bring some relief for until the fluid builds back up. He or she may also give you anti inflammatory medications for pain. Both sides of your body can have this disease.
Researchers are working to find ways to help those that suffer with these and other types of joint pain and arthritis. Making sure to take care of your body through diet and exercise is one of the most important things you could do in treating and preventing arthritis.

The Advantages Of Using An Arthritis Pain Relief Gel
An arthritis pain relief gel can be an important part of your arthritis pain relief treatment program. Some people swear by their efficacy, though there are many various kinds on the market today and it’s probably essential to experiment and see what works best for you. This is mainly because while symptoms sound common enough, the actual underlying issues may vary considerably from one person to the next.
What an arthritis pain relief gel cannot do, nevertheless, is make up for an unhealthy lifestyle. At best it can provide temporary topical arthritis pain relief but likely nothing else. Arthritis is, of course, damage to the bone, generally involving infection and inflammation, and such kinds as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis cannot be completely prevented, a healthy lifestyle can help reduce the risks and form an important part of any physical therapy program necessary.
After all, recovery requires resources – nutrients. Without a healthy diet, you are not giving your body even the barest chance at winning its fight against disease. And pills should be avoided in favor of fresh whole foods, unless prescribed by a doctor. The fresher something is the more potent its ingredients – that is, the nutrients involved.
And “whole foods” means food which is not “processed,” put together or otherwise treated in a factory but occurring naturally, as is. Too many individuals think that popping pills is the same as providing their bodies with nutrients, but in most cases nothing is further from the truth, for nutrients don’t work in isolation but together, within a biochemical context such as those provided by fresh whole foods.
Think about it. It is like taking words out of a sentence. Do they mean anything? It depends on the sentence, doesn’t it? Not to mention, oftentimes, preceding sentences and subsequent sentences. Well, it is the same thing with nutrients, macro, micro, and phyto. That’s why fresh whole foods are the greatest. They provide individual nutrients with the necessary biochemical context by which our bodies can “understand” them and “know” what to do with them! You’ll also need adequate rest. Without enough rest, your body doesn’t get as good a opportunity to use all those vital nutrients…but that’s a different article, for another time.
